Adapting Sound Design in Ånder Du Nu
In May 2023, I was brought into the Super8 film “Ånder Du Nu” at a later stage of post-production, after the movie had been reedited. With limited time, I undertook the task of aligning the sound design with the revised picture lock of the film. This involved not only remaking existing sound elements but also creating new ones to bridge the transitions and cuts resulting from the reediting process.
Engaging in this project proved to be a valuable learning experience that expanded my proficiency in different areas of sound production. An important lesson I gained was recognizing the significance of efficient file management and communication within the sound department.
Moreover, stepping into someone else’s ProTools session taught me the value of adaptability and cooperation. It required me to quickly understand the existing setup, navigate different preferences, and integrate my work while respecting the creative choices that were already in place
The project also deepened my knowledge of sound mixing in both 5.1 and stereo formats. This was essential to cater to a wide range of distribution platforms, ensuring that the sound translated cohesively across various common playback environments, from personal devices to larger cinematic settings.
